I think that’s why Cakewalk themselves created a video tutorial specifically to tackle this trouble faced by mostly beginners, or new Sonar users.

In this video, you will find out how to:

The Matrix view is the new and exciting feature of Sonar.
You can trigger MIDI and audio loops.
I think the Matrix view has some similarity with Ableton Live kind of sequencing environment.

You can simply drag and drop any audio and MIDI loops in the matrix cell. Then you can trigger the playback for the entire column or row.

After arranging the cells accordingly, you can record the sequence while playback by altering the triggers.

This will be very useful for mixing artist, especially in the dance and trance genre.

I am getting a feeling that Sonar is going to dominate the computer music sequencing world.
More to come!

Ever since Sonar 4.0, the audio loop editor is capable of tweaking individual slices of an audio loop.

This video shows you how to use the pitch envelope, pan and volume envelope to modify the property of different slices in a loop. Thus, a mono sounding loop can be changed to a stereo one just by using the pan envelope. If you have a musical loop that need some note-tweaking and chord altering, the loop editor comes handy!
